Heart Health Test
Cardiac MRI
Gold Standard Cardiac Imaging
Cardiac MRI is an advanced medical imaging technique that provides detailed and non-invasive visualisation of the heart and its surrounding structures. This sophisticated diagnostic test utilises powerful magnets and radio waves to generate high-resolution images.
Cardiac MRI is considered the gold standard for assessing heart function and detecting heart muscle damage or scarring.
This comprehensive test provides unparalleled detail about heart structure, function, and tissue characteristics.
What's Included:
- Comprehensive cardiac MRI scan
- Cine imaging (moving pictures)
- Tissue characterization
- Perfusion assessment
- Viability analysis
- Specialist cardiologist report
- CD with images
What Is It?
The most advanced cardiac imaging technique using magnetic resonance to create detailed 3D images of your heart.
How It Works
During a Cardiac MRI, the patient lies comfortably within a large, tunnel-shaped MRI scanner. The scanner generates a strong magnetic field, causing the hydrogen nuclei in the body's tissues to align. Radio waves are then applied, causing these nuclei to emit signals that are processed into precise, multi-dimensional images.
Understanding Your Results
Cardiac MRI provides comprehensive information including cardiac function (ejection fraction, pumping efficiency), myocardial viability, blood flow patterns, valve function, and assessment of the pericardium and great vessels.
Why It's Important
Cardiac MRI offers accurate diagnosis of various heart conditions, guides treatment planning, assesses risk, and provides non-invasive evaluation without ionising radiation.
Note: Performed at specialist cardiac MRI centers with the latest technology and expert cardiac radiologists.
