Davinder Virdee qualified as a pharmacist in 1988 with a Masters Honours Degree after completing his training in Hospital and community Pharmacy. In 1989 he completed is MBA and worked for a number of National Pharmacy groups including Boots and Lloyds as a pharmacist lead with responsibility for restructuring failing branches and helping build strong teams in multi-site locations. Whilst gaining experience of the healthcare sector he worked as a small business consultant advising businesses on strategic decisions and future planning.
He is the owner and superintendent Pharmacist of PillBox Chemists Group one of the largest private community pharmacy groups in the south of England. He has built up the group strategically over the last 27 years with pharmacies in local communities and health centres with a focus on delivering healthcare in local communities. The group now employs 200 staff including pharmacists with a strong management team based at their head office in Colnbrook.
Davinder has served on several pharmacy sector industry groups as well as forums and is currently a elected member of CPSE Local Pharmaceutical Committee representing pharmacy contractors, across the whole of Hampshire and Sussex. He has previously sat on the Surrey Local Pharmaceutical Committee for several years. He is a member of the National Pharmaceutical Association, Royal Pharmaceutical Society and General Pharmaceutical Society.
He is a very experienced healthcare professional with knowledge and expertise in setting up new business ventures, business planning & strategy, operations, human resource and development, team building and financial planning, with a focus on patient experience and satisfaction and positive outcomes. He has a detailed understanding of the healthcare sector having dealt with GP's, NHS England, CCG's and numerous other healthcare partners developing and also delivering healthcare services through his pharmacy group.
He is passionate about healthcare with a particular interest in preventative medicine and health screening developing key pharmacy services with a focus on lifestyle changes and education and continues to look at ways to improve and develop healthcare services in a rapidly changing environment and growth of the private sector in the UK, and how digitalisation can be used to improve patients on-going health and lead to better outcomes.
