How often should I have a Health Check?
We recommend that all of our patients return for a repeat health check after one year. Regular, annual health screening gives you the opportunity to monitor your health over time and intercept any complications as soon as they develop.
What is the purpose of health screening?
A health screening at Harley Street Medical is like an MOT for your body. A quick annual check using tests and investigations can help to catch any potential problems early, helping you to monitor your health and offering the opportunity to speak to a nurse or GP about any concerns you may have. Instead of waiting until there’s an issue before seeking help, health screenings are a proactive way to help you manage your health, offering peace of mind and, if any problems are uncovered, the best chance of early, effective treatment.
What does the test include?
The Health Check is delivered by our medical team, who will conduct various test and examination to determine your health. The following tests will be included:
- Health and Lifestyle questionnaire with a 1-1 consultation
- Blood pressure check
- Heart Rhythm Test
- Body composition Scan
- Blood oxygen saturation
- Wellwoman/Wellman Blood test with key indicators such as liver and kidney function
- Prostate/ovarian cancer marker screening
What to expect?
Pre-Test Preparation – you will receive a Health & Lifestyle questionnaire that you will need to complete before your appointment. Please arrive to your appointment well hydrated as this will allow accurate results.
During the appointment – the consultation will be delivered by our Clinically Trained Pharmacist or Nurse Practitioner, where they will discuss your medical history and your pre appointment questionnaire. All necessary tests will be conducted during this appointment including the blood test.
Post appointment – all the tests will be analysed by our medical team and a report will be put together with recommendation and advice.
If any of your health checks uncover a serious medical problem, we will contact you immediately to let you know, so that you can take action straight away. You won’t have to wait until the rest of your results are ready.
Results – Your report with all your results is confidential and will be delivered to you according to your preference. If there is anything that you would like to discuss further with our medical team we will arrange a follow up consultation, either in person or over the phone.
