Covid-19 Anti-body Testing
At Harley Street Medical we can test for the presence of antibodies against the Covid – 19 virus. Whether this will be an IgG test to check how many antibodies you currently have. Most common reasons for wanting this test:
- To see how many (quantative) anti-bodies you have after your vaccinations
- If you have had covid recently and want to check your antibodies (you should wait around 2-3 weeks after infection to get an accurate reading)
The antibodies probably provide some immunity to the COVID-19 virus, there’s currently not enough evidence to know how long the antibodies last or to what extent past infection with the virus helps protect you from getting another infection.
- Or an antibody test to see if you are positive or negative to having antibodies (this test does not give you clear numbers)
Pregnancy blood test
A blood test is a quick way to check for pregnancy, giving results earlier than a standard pregnancy test.
Once the pregnancy is confirmed, blood tests during pregnancy are essential, both for your own health and that of your baby. They can help inform any decisions you make about your care, and how you give birth. Most pregnancy blood tests are taken near the start of your pregnancy, and some may be repeated as your pregnancy progresses. We’ll make you comfortable at our Harley Street clinic, with a simple blood test and quick results.
- Full blood count, checking your red and white blood cells and platelets
- Blood type and rhesus status
- Checks for blood disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassaemia
- Screens for infectious diseases such as Hepatitis B, HIV and syphilis
We can also offer optional blood tests for chromosomal conditions including Down’s Syndrome, Edwards’ Syndrome and Patau Syndrome.

Why do I need to repeat blood tests?
If you drive a car, you service your car once a year. With regular blood tests you can monitor what is going on with your health every year. Very rarely, you may be asked to repeat a blood test by a doctor you had done recently. There may be a few different reasons for this:
- The sample given in your first blood test produced inconclusive results
- Repeating the blood test after a certain amount of weeks or months will give an indication of how well you are managing your condition, or how your symptoms are progressing
Our team of practitioners will explain your tests results to you with the after care consultation. If we do have to repeat the blood test we will communicate this to you to oraganise a date that suits you. Our team will be happy to answer any queries you may have regarding your blood results.
Vitamin and Nutrition Blood Tests
This test checks that you are getting all the nutrients you need to stay healthy, available in our London clinic.
Within our ‘Vitamin and Nutrition Blood Test’, we will take a snapshot of the vitamins and minerals present in your blood. This type of blood test may be recommended if you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate vitamin deficiency or anaemia, such as fatigue, dizziness or weight loss. Alternatively, it’s a screening test that can be carried out for your own peace of mind, even if you feel fine.
The markers included in this test are as follows:
- Vitamin B12
- Magnesium
- Vitamin D
- Iron
- Folate.
